“Drawing Mountains” by The Album Leaf

Perfect driving music for a sunny day. You know, when I’m not belting out Kool & the Gang’s “Jungle Boogie” as I foolishly think no one’s looking.

“Favorite Song” by KaiserCartel

It’s that time of year again, people—new fall television shows are premiering this week! While I was a bit wary of this season’s new “must see” series (Melrose Place remake, seriously?), I have to say, I’m kind of excited as well. This is the first year that I’ve had U-Verse access for the fall season, and my DVR is working overtime to record everything. And while I do get an unhealthy amount of cartoon channels, I am without HBO.

Lucky for me, though, the pilot for HBO’s new comedy “Bored to Death” is available to download for free from iTunes. While I could throw around big names like Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis, the hidden stars of this show are the artists that supply a steady stream of refreshingly minimalistic music—Young Marble Giants, Stephen Malkmus, and KaiserCartel to name a few. Aptly named “Favorite Song,” this was the tune I kept humming after the show had long been over.
